Oliver Speck to Co-host Q&A session at 2019 EuroAsia Shorts Film Festival

The weeklong 2019 EuroAsia Shorts Film Festival kicks off Friday, May 31 at 6:30 PM with a screening of Austrian and Korean movies in DC’s Korean Cultural Center. School of World Studies professor Oliver Speck will co-host a Q&A session after the films with George Mason University professor Jihye Moon. This event is partially made by possible by the Austrian Cultural Forum Washington.
The EuroAsia Film Festival features movies from throughout Asia, Europe and the United States at various cultural venues throughout DC. The theme of youth connects the diverse selection of short movies shown this year. Opening night’s films include 2018’s “Amateur” and 2017’s “F#@ing Drama,” pictured above.
Speck is an expert on Austrian film. He has written a book on the Austrian director Michael Haneke and is co-editor of “New Austrian Film.” He has been with VCU since 2007 where he has taught classes such as Introduction to World Cinema and Perspectives in European Cinema.
