Bio
Jon Waybright earned his Master of Theological Studies from Boston University’s School of Theology. He also has degrees in History and Religious Studies from VCU. Mr. Waybright has been an instructor at Virginia Commonwealth University in the Religious Studies program since 1997, with a focus on World Religions, Zen Buddhism Biblical Studies and Syro-Palestinian Archaeology. He has been the Experiential Coordinator for the Religious Studies program, organizing Internship, Study Abroad/Away, Service Learning, Research Assistantships, and Volunteer programming, since 2013. Mr. Waybright is also a core faculty member in the Open Minds Program with the Richmond City Justice Center where classes are held in tandem with both VCU students and incarcerated residents. He leads an innovative hybrid study abroad program to Jerusalem, Israel in the summers, where students engage in archaeological research and conduct peace education activities. He enjoys the outdoors, traveling abroad and practicing Tai-Chi.
